What is the difference between Clean Room Polyethylene and Industrial Grade Polyethylene Films?
Our Clean Room Polyethylene Films are all extruded in an ISO Class 5 Clean Room and made with virgin resins that are low/non outgassing. Every lot is tested with a laser particle counter and certs are available for each shipment. The Films we offer abide by Level 50 and Level 100 per IEST-CC1246E which has a spec for maximum allowable particles.
Standard Polyethylene Films, often, are made with additives called “slip agents” that can transfer to anything that comes in contact with these Films and can become a contaminant. In addition, they are not made in a Clean Room and have no specification for cleanliness or particle levels.
Some companies will advertise their Films as being “Class 100” Clean, however, there is no real specification for this. Only Level 50 and Level 100 per IEST-CC1246E has a specification for cleanliness ensuring that you will be getting a clean, quality product.
